Steven Hauck - Board President

Steven Hauck has been an active Unity truth student for over 25 years, and has been a member of Unity of New York since its inception in 1999. He has served as a Prayer Chaplain, and currently sings with the Voices In Unity choir as well as Unity’s Musical Outreach Program. Steve is a professional actor, whose recent credits include the Broadway shows “Irena’s Vow” and “The Velocity of Autumn,” and two films with Spike Lee: “Oldboy” and “Da Sweet Blood of Jesus.” Steve has appeared on Tina Fey’s TV shows “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” and “30 Rock,” as well as “Boardwalk Empire,” “The Blacklist,” “The Good Wife,” and Baz Luhrmann’s new Netflix series “The Get Down” and most recently, “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”.  He is honored to serve on Unity of New York’s Board of Trustees as President, and to serve the community that sustains and inspires him on a daily basis.

Sheila Barash - Vice President

Sheila Barash is a New York based executive coach and leader, working with individual clients as well as leading workshops, in the United States, Europe, Asia and South America. In her work at The TAI Group, she has coached clients and led workshops for Johnson and Johnson, Deloitte, Lexis Nexis, IMD, New York University and The Boston Consulting Group.Sheila regularly coaches many of TAI’s open accessprograms in NYC, particularly The Creative Dynamic and also represents TAI at symposiums, speaking about The Art of Storytelling.

During her 25 year association with TAI, Sheila also spent several years working with a large public relations firm.

Sheila Barash holds a B.F.A. from the University of Miami and an M.F.A. from Florida State University. A professional actress and singer since the age of 15, she has appeared at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. as well as in New York productions. As a country singer, she has appeared regularly in Nashville and in her own revue that was originally produced in New York and then toured for many years.

Sheila is honored to be a member of the Board of Trustees for Unity of New York. She is an original member of Unity of New York. She is also a member of Voices in Unity and is a Chaplain Emeritus.

 

Carmen Fuentes - Secretary

Carmen Fuentes became aware of Unity teachings through listening to Eric Butterworth on the radio, on a friend’s recommendation over 35 years ago.  She subsequently started attending Sunday services at Lincoln Center, taking her then five-year-old daughter to the Youth Program.  After living outside of New York City for a few years, Carmen reconnected to Unity when a family friend told her about Unity of New York’s Sunday services at Symphony Space.  She started attending regularly, felt at home, and joined Voices in Unity choir in 2012, which consequently led her to becoming a Unity member in 2013 and Prayer Chaplain.  All this is a result of feeling part of the wonderful community at UNY and listening to Spirit.  Carmen recently retired from full time work as an RN/Lactation Consultant and was ordained as an Interfaith Interspiritual Minister.  A student of Truth, she is dedicated to living a heart centered life and honored to serve to as a UNY board member.

Keith Greer - Treasurer

Keith Greer has been a student of New Thought and attending Unity spiritual services since the 1990’s. Following Paul Tenaglia and Britt Hall from their beginnings at Unity Center to their building the ministry of Unity of New York, he has been active in Unity for many years. Since becoming a member in 2011, Keith has served Unity of New York as a Prayer Chaplain and also as a member of our choir Voices In Unity. He has also been an active participant by attending retreats, workshops and classes over the years. In his professional life, Keith is a Director/Stage Manager, Playwright, and Voice Over Actor who has received, among other awards, 3 Daytime Emmy Awards as a member of the Directing Team on the ABC/TV drama One Life To Live and is currently serving on the AD/SM/PA Council of the Directors Guild of America. Keith is very excited to serve on the Board of Unity of New York and is looking forward to the wonderful journey that is manifesting for our community right here and right now!

John Canary - Member at Large

John Canary knew he’d found his spiritual home after discovering Eric Butterworth at Lincoln Center over 25 years ago. He began attending Unity of New York in 2012 and became a member in 2014.  At Unity of New York, John has served as a Prayer Chaplain and as a member of the Unity Care (UNY’s Pastoral Care) team. John currently serves as a facilitator in the Quest pre-service discussion series and he is entering his 3rd year as a member of Voices in Unity choir.  For many years, John was an actor, appearing in plays, soaps and many industrial films.  John is honored to serve on the board of his spiritual home and with and for his Unity family.
